BioWare's Star Wars: The Old Republic recently released more information on the Republic's Smuggler class. Just as the Sith Warrior emulates Darth Vader and the Bounty Hunter emulates Boba Fett, the Smuggler is SWTOR's Han Solo.
Players choosing the role of the Smuggler in this upcoming MMO will also have the option of selecting Twi'lek as their playable race, in addition to Human. Of course, not everybody is happy with the limited selections for each class, but the choice of Twi'lek will at least pander to the gamers who prefer a swaying, female alien tush over a Harrison Ford look-alike's butt (Note: Though you do have the option of playing as a male Twi'lek, do you really want to look like this?)
In addition, the Smuggler's Advanced Classes have been revealed, allowing players to specialize in either the DPS/crowd control-focused Gunslinger or the sneaky, versatile Scoundrel.
And just like how Han Solo had Chewbacca, The Old Republic is giving Smugglers their own furry, growling Wookiee companion. Bowdaar is a gladiator from the seedy underworlds of the galaxy and it seems like he'll be providing the necessary muscle for the Smuggler class.
For his interstellar adventures, the Smuggler gets Corellian XS Stock Light Freighter, another example of BioWare's homage to the original trilogy. It'll be interesting to see if BioWare integrates any actual smuggling into the game, or if SWTOR's version of the Millenium Falcon is just for blasting Imperial starfighters out of space.
