Guild Wars 2 Rewards Revealed, Remaining Professions Hinted

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, dear readers. It's because classes have been so - Aw, who am I kidding? I haven't been able to blog in a while because ArenaNet launched a secret attack of awesome on the Guild Wars community, not because of the college workload.

Yes, ArenaNet has finally opened the gates of secrecy regarding how the Hall of Monuments will transfer your Guild Wars characters' achievements to the sequel. From the site, you can enter any of your characters' names and it will calculate your account-wide achievements and what rewards you have netted.

These rewards can be anything from badass titles, like "Closer to the Stars" or "Champion of the Gods," to unique weapons and armor, to mini-pets, and to ranger pets. The weapons and armor are designed to be able to be used by players right away and ArenaNet stated that they will provide a way for players to continue using these special items as you advance to higher levels.

Needless to say, these juicy prizes have lured me and many other players back to the original game in an effort to earn more of these achievements. Before the reveal, the majority of us were stumbling in the dark with the faint idea that filling our Hall of Monuments would amount to something. Now, thankfully, we have an actual goal. For me, I want that Black Widow Spider pet for my ranger, which also comes with some fiery vambraces of Balthazar and the aforementioned "Closer to the Stars" title. I'll need to net 30 of the total 50 achievement points and I'm currently on 18, so it'll be quite the journey.

The ArenaNet devs are partying it up right now at the New York City Comic-Con. Their official Twitter feed has dropped some pretty exciting information about Guild Wars 2. They have revealed that their will be an auction house with robust in-game and web integration. Players in Guild Wars 2 will also have their own personal stories, using a branching system that creates a lot of variation and diversity. Most importantly, however, is that the devs have revealed more info on the as-of-yet unknown professions.

On the Twitter feed, they said: "Remaining four professions: at least one is a returning profession, at least one is similar with a different name, and at least one is new."

Seeing as how Mesmers hold a unique position in the Guild Wars universe, I think they're sort of a shoe-in as one of the final four. As for the other three professions, it is the position of this blogger that the Paragons will be going through a revamp, coming out on the other side as a Warlord or Captain. They are the only other heavy armor profession in Guild Wars and since there are no spears in Guild Wars 2, they will definitely need some kind of redesigning. As for the other two professions, I have no idea and I'm pretty excited as to what the ArenaNet team has to offer.

Perhaps the Chronomancer or Summoner from the canceled Guild Wars Utopia will make an appearance. That'd be pretty cool. But for now, I'm just eagerly awaiting more news.
